Powell Contracting respectfully acknowledges that the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Wendat, the Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Mississaugas of Scugog, Hiawatha and Alderville First Nations and the Métis Nation. We also recognize that this territory was the subject of the “Dish with One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant”, an agreement between the Iroquois Confederacy, the Ojibwe, and allied nations to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. The treaties that were signed for this particular parcel of land are collectively referred to as the Williams Treaties of 1923. Powell Contracting is grateful to have the opportunity to gather and operate on this land, and by doing so, give our respect to it’s first inhabitants.
At Powell Contracting, we believe that our greatest opportunity for continued success is fostered in the belief that every voice matters. Each one of us has a unique story and we promise to do our part to ensure that those stories are heard, seen, acknowledged, and supported.
Powell’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee was established in April 2021 with the intention of fostering a community based on collaboration, creativity, and belonging. Committee members at all levels of the organization, and across various business units, meet once per month to discuss upcoming events and initiatives, review policies and current practices, and to share resources to improve diversity in the workplace. All members are encouraged to contribute ideas in a judgement free space, to enhance and improve the experience and work environment of the organization. WHY WORK WITH US
Powell Contracting offers a fast-paced work environment, one that values creativity, initiative, and thinking outside of the box. Collaborative work environments and tools combined with ongoing employee training and development support enables employees to grow with us. We recognize our industry is constantly evolving and we want people who are willing to go the extra mile and exemplify our core values of Innovation, Service, Passion, and Safety in the workforce. We lead with a competitive total rewards package and perks.
At Powell Contracting, we are also extremely active on college campuses and have an established and successful student co-op program. This developmental program teaches students the inner workings of the construction industry by engaging them with responsibilities that would be reflective of an entry-level role. We want to equip each co-op with the tools and knowledge required to succeed in the industry. Oftentimes, co-ops have the opportunity to transition into a full-time role based on performance. Developing and retaining top talent remains our priority.
As a company, we continue to make huge strides within the industry. Community and diversity are our strengths. We offer equal opportunity to every single person regardless of gender, ethnicity, or religion.
Team building, recognition, and perks are important. We have an active committee creating opportunities and welcome ideas from teams.
Have a competitive spirit, a knack for design, or an artistic eye? You'll enjoy our fun office contests and competitions to generate and action employee ideas, and incubate a teamwork atmosphere.
Take advantage of the Ram Forest Café! Our very own on-site, gourmet restaurant. Each day our chef prepares a breakfast and lunch special, and the kitchen is fully stocked with grab-and-go style meals and snacks. Employees also enjoy the convenience of a subsidized meal card to make it even easier.
At Powell, we work hard and we play hard, so we have a clothing program to match. We partnered with a local supplier to offer promotional items and Powell branded apparel to our team. Top-quality brands for top-quality employees.
